Ayam Goreng Mentega (Butter Fried Chicken)

Ayam goreng mentega is not internationally famous as Indonesian signature dish, but it's very common in Indonesian "home" cooking. It tastes rich because of the butter and sweet soy sauce (most favorite sauce in Indonesia 😉 ).

Ayam Goreng Mentega (Butter Fried Chicken)

Serve : 4

Ingredients :
750 gr chicken thighs
2 tbsp butter
½ onion, peel and slice thinly
1 tbsp Kikkoman all purpose soy sauce
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
5 tbsp kecap manis (Indonesian sweet soy sauce)
1 tbsp lime juice
salt
ground white pepper
frying oil

Steps :
Season the chicken thighs with salt and pepper. Set aside and wait for about 1 hour.

Into a bowl, add in soy sauce, kecap manis, Worcestershire sauce and lime juice. Mix with a spoon.

Prepare a frying pan over high heat, add in frying oil. Wait until the oil is hot enough. Fry the chicken until well cooked and the skin become crispy. Drain on paper towel to remove excess oil. Set aside. Do it in batches to make the skin crispier.

Prepare another pan over medium high heat. Add in butter and onion. Fry onion until soften. Pour in the sauce mixture. Season with salt and pepper.

Add in fried chicken, stir well until the sauce coats the chicken. Turn off the heat and transfer into serving plate. Serve with white rice.
