Bauernpfanne (German Farm Style Roasted Potatoes)

I knew this dish when I was in Eurobike last year in Friedrichshafen. I ate in their food court and was drooling by something in a big pan. I asked the woman to get me a portion then I've finally known that it's called "Bauernpfanne".

In German language, "Bauern" means farmers and "Pfanne" means pan. Exactly said, this dish contains potatoes, sausage and some kinds of vegetables like carrots, broccoli, aubergine, zucchini, bell pepper etc. I like it to add some bacon, zucchini and red bell pepper into it. The spices that I used were salt, pepper and sugar, everybody should have those at home. Check out my recipe and try at home, it's really easy and you will love it! 😉

Bauernpfanne (German Farm Style Roasted Potatoes)

Serve : 4

Ingredients :
1.5 kg potatoes, peel and dice
350 gr zucchini, slice
2 red bell pepper, core and cut into chunks
400 gr sausages (I use Vienna sausage), chop
50 gr bacon cubes
1 small onion, chop or slice
4 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp sugar
salt and pepper to taste

Extra :
4 fried eggs
chopped parsley leaves

Steps :
Put the potatoes into a microwave-safe dish, microwave for 10 minutes (800W) or until they soften. Set aside.

Into a large pan over medium high heat, add in olive oil bacon and potatoes. Pan-roast them until the potatoes become golden brown. Stir/Flip them frequently to prevent burning.

Add in chopped sausage, zucchini and bell pepper. Season with sugar, salt and pepper. Continue to cook until the vegetables softens. Transfer into serving plates, put a fried egg on top, garnish with chopped parsley leaves.
