This is one of classic Italian dishes and also Garfield's most favorite food ever!
Lasagna is flat pasta sheet, nowadays we can buy "no precook" dried lasagna in almost every grocery stores. "No precook" means we don't have to boil them first before baking them, read first the instruction to know whether it should be cooked first. "No precook" lasagna will soften by itself (or by the sauce) during baking.
Lasagna is usually baked with meat or vegetables, sauce and cheese. A very common lasagna dish is lasagna bolognese which are layered with bolognese sauce and mozzarella cheese. Some people add bechamel sauce (white sauce) into the layers.
Serve : 6
You need :
a baking dish with the size about 19 x 30 x 6 cm (w x l x h)
18-21 sheet no precook dried lasagna (17.5 x 9 cm) (for 6-7 layer)
250 gr mozzarella cheese
Bechamel sauce :
50 gr butter
50 gr all purpose flour
600 ml milk
salt and pepper
1 pinch nutmeg powder
Bechamel Sauce. Into a sauce pan over medium high heat, add in butter. Wait until it melts, then add in flour. Stir quickly until it becomes a paste, turn down the heat. Pour in milk little by little while continue stirring. Add in nutmeg and season with salt and pepper. Stir until it thickens, turn off the heat. Set aside.
Preheat the over into 200 degree Celsius.
Put a little amount of bolognese sauce into the dish then spread it evenly just to make the lasagna sheets don't stick.
Put 3 sheets of lasagna sheets in a row. Spread bolognese sauce (about 100 ml) onto them then the bechamel sauce. Repeat this process until it becomes 6 or 7 layers.
Pinch mozzarella cheese into small parts, spread them onto the lasagna. Bake for 40 minutes or until the top layer becomes golden brown. Turn off the oven, wait for few minutes.
Cut it into six portions then it's ready to be served.
Note : I like to make lasagna with many layers (6-7 layers usually), just because it fits perfectly to my baking dish and lasagna sheet size. But you don't have to follow my way, of course you could also make it with 3 or 4 layers depends on your baking dish size or your lasagna sheet size 😉
